Jere Jay Bice
Jay Bice has practiced personal injury law for over twenty-seven years. After representing insurance and oil companies in the early part of his career, his practice has been concentrated on representing individuals and families in personal injuries cases for the last twenty years. His primary focus has been on maritime law and serious motor vehicle and industrial accidents. His maritime experience has included litigating numerous claims for seaman (Jones Act and Death On The High Seas Act), general maritime law negligence claims, longs horeman and harbor workers (Longshore harbor Workers Act), and offshore platform workers (Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act). He has also litigated numerous Defense Base Act cases.
Mr. Bice is proud to come from a working class family and is a product of Southwest Louisiana public schools from his early childhood through college. After graduating with a business degree in college, he worked for an oil service company for several years actually working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. This hands on, real world experience has been very beneficial in successfully representing hundreds of maritime workers in his career. He has tried to verdict over one hundred jury and bench trials in state and federal court as well as before the US Office of Administrative Law Judges (LHWCA) and the Louisiana Office of Workers Compensation.
Mr. Bice graduated from McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. He attended the Loyola University School of Law, from which he graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1988. He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 1988.
Mr. Bice is admitted to practice in all Federal Courts in Louisiana, and in the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Louisiana Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association. He was named a Super Lawyer by his peers in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. He was named to the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. He is also a certified mediator.
