Mother and Children Nearly Hit by Car Crashing into Starbucks

Starbucks is a popular hub for an afternoon pick-me-up in the form of tasty caffeine, especially for busy people working in La Jolla. Mother and children nearly hit by a car crashing into Starbucks.

Coffee lovers got more than they bargained for, however, when a vehicle driver’s foot slipped from the brake pedal and onto the gas pedal of a black four-door car, causing it to plow directly into the front of the Starbucks on Prospect Street west of Ivanhoe Avenue. It left the front of the building in pile of rubble and many people utterly terrified.

Miraculously, no one was injured during the crash, though a mother and her two children were nearly hit by the car when it lurched forward into the building.

OnScene TV covered the accident, to which Vahid Moradi, the owner of nearby jewelry store, told that he was standing outside his store when a crash startled him. Right in front of his eyes, he saw a black Chevrolet Malibu slamming into the front of the Starbucks coffee shop.

He remarked just how lucky the mother of two children, an infant and toddler, was to get herself and her children out of the path of destruction. Both kids were in a stroller at the time of the crash, allowing the woman to yank them both out of the way just in time.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Captain Jeff Clyons remarked to OnScene TV that the mother and other passersby were disturbed by the event, but was thankful that no one was injured – inside the Starbucks store or otherwise.

While the crash is still under investigation, first responders are thankful it did not result in serious injury or death.
