Car Catches Fire In Crash That Injured Motorcyclist

Authorities report that a motorcyclist in Louisiana hit a car that turned in front of him, causing the motorcyclist to fly off of the bike. The motorcycle slid into a nearby car, damaging the gas tank and causing the vehicle to erupt in flames. The accident reportedly took place on March 2 around 7:15 a.m. in Metairie.

The motorcyclist’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, though he suffered from several broken bones. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the car did not report any injuries, and there was no further information given regarding which driver had the right-of-way.

Accidents similar to this one that result in a person being injured can suddenly make the person unable to go to work as well as leave them with high medical bills. Sometimes, the person may find it beneficial to seek the advice of an attorney to find out if filing a personal injury lawsuit would be an appropriate course of action. An attorney familiar with cases that involve people injured in car accidents might be able to determine if another driver was negligent.

If evidence in the accident report indicates negligence, then a lawsuit might be able to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost income and other damages. An attorney could also help an someone assess whether or not a settlement offered by an insurance company is adequate. If a settlement is inadequate, an attorney can help negotiate for an acceptable amount.
