Louisiana troopers remind motorists to stay safe

Louisiana state troopers issued a reminder to drivers this week to drive extra carefully this holiday season. Their warning was prompted by a string of fatal car accidents in the area last weekend.

Police officers stress that the holiday season sees a bump in the number of motor vehicle accidents on Louisiana roads. A combination of increased travel and holiday celebrations means that more people are on the road - and they may be less careful than usual.

Accidents caused by impaired driving make up a substantial portion of crashes this time of year. As revelers travel between holiday parties after a glass or two of eggnog, they may be more tempted to drive while impaired. And students on spring break may party a bit too hard before driving, which could have disastrous consequences for other motorists.

Law enforcement officials reminded motorists that doing everything right may not be enough to prevent a potentially serious accident. Another driver's negligence can result into a wreck that affects you, so remember to stay alert and drive defensively. Don't assume that every other motorist on the road is as safe as you are.

If you or someone you love are injured in an accident caused by an unsafe driver, the results can be devastating. From medical bills and lost work to severe injury or even death, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries, property damage or pain and suffering. Consider working with an experienced personal injury attorney who can protect your interests and pursue any appropriate claims.
