Company marketed dangerous mesh product without approval

Many women in Rayne may have heard of Johnson & Johnson's problems with their Gynecare Prolift vaginal mesh. There have been numerous reports that women who have had the mesh implanted have suffered significant pain and there has also been some organ perforation, which has led to scars and damage to women's nervous system. These victims of dangerous products are fighting back and filing product liability lawsuits. But the people of Louisiana may be shocked to learn that Johnson & Johnson may not have had permission to sell these devices.

Woman killed in Louisiana when driver rear-ends her

Tragedy has struck a small town outside of New Orleans after an out-of-state driver smashed into the back of her car, killing her on impact. The woman's passenger was also injured and rushed to the hospital. Though the driver was arrested and faces criminal charges in this fatal car accident, the 19-year-old woman's family may wish to file a wrongful death against the driver, as well.

Toyota models under investigation for vehicle fires

After almost 200 complaints of vehicle fires from Toyota drivers, the federal government is expanding its investigations. Currently, nine people have been hurt by the fires that have started in a number of Toyota Camrys, Yaris and Highlanders between the model years of 2007 and 2009.

Dangerous strollers recalled after children's fingers amputated

As a parent, you try to find the safest products for your children, especially younger children. One thing that most parents in Louisiana can't do without are strollers, but new information from the Consumer Product Safety Commission may have mothers and fathers in Lake Charles wondering just how safe their strollers are.

Four Loko to blame for driver's wrongful death, car accident

One man's decision to smoke marijuana, drink gin and have a Four Loko has left four other men dead. Four Loko, an alcoholic energy drink that was once sold in Louisiana, has since been banned by the federal Food and Drug Administration. Though the ban was due, in part, to accidents like these, it was too late to protect this father and his three sons.

Victim's widow files wrongful death lawsuit after fatal beating

A St. Amant, Louisiana, woman is just trying to hold the men she feels are partially responsible for her husband's death responsible with recent court filings. The woman is alleging that officials for the strip club outside of which her husband was fatally beaten should have to pay damages for the 28-year-old's wrongful death. In May 2011, her husband was killed when an employee of the strip club got into an argument with him and started to hit, kick and jump on the man. Tragically, he died before he could get to the hospital.

Serious injuries follow flammable sunscreen accident

As summer approaches, the people of Lake Charles will need to invest in sunscreen to reduce the risk of sunburns and skin cancer. It is likely that one man was similarly trying to avoid sun damage when he applied an aerosol sunscreen from Banana Boat recently. Instead, he ended up with second-degree burns on his back, chest and ear after the sunscreen caught fire when he approached his grill.

Suspected drunk driver kills 5 in Louisiana car crash

It may be someone's worst nightmare to lose several family members in a car crash. When the fatal car accident is caused because someone was reckless enough to drive drunk, it is absolutely heart-wrenching. If the driver had not been drinking, it is likely the accident never would have happened and no one would have lost loved ones because of a horrible decision. Sadly, these types of accidents continue to happen and it appears that a recent crash that took the lives of five Louisianans and seriously injured two others was caused by someone careless enough to drink and drive.
