Ride accident at Louisiana State Fair highlights machinery dangers

A woman was hurled from a ride at the Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport this year. She was taken to the hospital after being thrown but, fortunately, her injuries are not life-threatening.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the accident. They have not been able to determine the cause of the accident so far but they believe it may have been a malfunction of the ride.

The owner of "The Fun Factory," the ride that threw the woman, said that the ride had never malfunctioned or caused an injury before. A State Fair representative said the ride has been a part of the fair for 11 years with no prior accidents.

Last year a four-year-old girl became trapped under a different ride, illustrating a need for caution around large pieces of machinery like fair rides and some of the dangers they can pose to fair-goers.

Those who have been hurt by a defective machine may be entitled to compensation for their injuries, including damages for pain and suffering, lost wages or medical bills. People and businesses who build, manage and operate these machines may be held legally responsible if the machines malfunction or if they fail to provide adequate warnings and safety measures.

If you or someone you care about have been seriously injured in an accident caused by a defective product or piece of equipment, it is wise to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible. They can help you build your case and pursue any appropriate claims for damages, allowing you to focus on recovering and getting back to your life.
