Man Files Wrongful Death Suit Against Former Friend After Fatal Boating Accident

Imagine a perfect summer day, few clouds, light wind and plenty of warm sun. You and your significant other have planned to join your best friend and your best friend's significant other for a day on the water on your best friend's boat. You and your best friend decide to catch up while your better halves enjoy a ride on the inner tube attached to the boat. What starts out as a perfect day, ends in tragedy as your friend mistakenly takes a sharp turn that launches the inner tube with both of your significant others into a dock resulting in the death of your significant other.

Number of Fatal Teen Car Accidents Decline Across Nation

According to a recent report issued by the Centers for Disease Control the number of fatal teenage auto accidents has declined over the past five years. The Centers for Disease Control report cites tougher teenage driving laws and parental involvement as key factors in the reduction of teen car accident fatalities.

Supreme Court Hears Arguments for Vaccine Product-Liability Case

This past Tuesday, the United States Supreme Court heard arguments in a case that decides whether state courts will be allowed to hear vaccine related product liability suits. Currently, federal law created by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 precludes plaintiffs from filing design defect product liability suits against vaccine manufacturers in state court.

Mining Giant Joins Fight Against EPA in Land Contamination Suit Involving Lead

In a dispute between the Environmental Protection Agency and the railroad company Union Pacific over which party should clean land contaminated by lead, the mining company Asarco wants to join the fight. The land at issue is near Omaha, Nebraska and was formerly the location of a lead smelting operation run by Asarco. The focal point of the dispute is Environmental Protection Agency emails that indicate the agency deleted documentation that contained the cause of the environmental land contamination.

Car Drives Into Louisiana Bayou Thursday, Killing Driver

A deadly car crash occurred yesterday on Louisiana 134 yesterday. Proceeding east near the East Carroll-West Carroll parish line, the car containing a mother and her three children drove off the right side of the road, hitting two trees and becoming airborne. The car flipped and proceeded down an embankment, landing upside-down in Bayou Macon. The mother driving the car was killed, though her three children passengers were spared.

One Dead in Sunday Night Truck Accident Near New Iberia, Louisiana

Reports are in from State Police that a deadly crash occurred last night in Loreauville. A man rolled her truck and hit a light pole and tree, killing his female passenger. The crash involved two pickup trucks, a 17 year old driver from New Iberia and his passenger, a 36 year old driver from St. Martinville and his passenger, a 40 year old woman from New Iberia.

Furnace Repair Company Sued in Wrongful Death Suit

The family of a woman who died from carbon monoxide poisoning is suing a heating and cooling company in a wrongful death suit. Two years ago the woman went to visit a friend who was renting a house that apparently had furnace issues.

Transocean Not Cooperating With Federal Oil Spill Panel

The federal panel investigating the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion that caused environmental contamination in the Gulf of Mexico has met stiff resistance by Transocean. Transocean is the company that owned the Deepwater Horizon oil rig and leased the rig to BP. Transocean will not hand over requested documents regarding the company's compliance with international safety management codes. The federal panel has also requested that a certain Transocean manager testify about safety. The company's manager has not responded.
